Halloween Cookies with the Wickies

I was getting something framed at Michael's and was walking out of the store when I saw Halloween cookie cutters and tons of decorating sprinkles. I thought to myself, oh -- Katie would love that, the sprinkle maven that she is.

So, yesterday we decorated cookies with some friends.

The event began tame enough with Papa helping to decorate. Soon enough though, left to their own devices, the kids got more "creative" (read: messy).

Let's just say we had a lot of orange-dyed hands, elbows and shins by the end of the day.

Decorating continued with more sprinkles, frosting and icing.

One bottle of sprinkles down, more to go.

...and more icing

and more sprinkles...

Rolling out dough and using cookie cutters.

Katie's friend Dylann ready to roll out some dough herself.

More testing...

Parker, who began decorating in a remarkably neat fashion gave in and ended up just eating sprinkles.

Cody with more sprinkles on the
cutting board then on a single cookie

Finn going for the sprinkles.
Note: not a cookie in site.

While other kids came to the decorating table, did their thing and left to play with toys, the diligent Katie sprinkled on.

And, in the end only one remained...

Arduously sprinkling and tasting.

Part of the aftermath: Katie's chair.

After all the kids and moms were gone I dumped pretty much all the sprinkles as they were all dipped into (and licked and re-dipped into) by a lot of hands. When I went to open one of the little canisters of sprinkles, I found this:

The cookie that was used by Katie as a conduit to scoop and eat sprinkles -- nice.
