taking her apprentice under her wing

Today was National Oatmeal Cookie Day.

What better occasion to introduce Maddie to what Katie and I arguably do best: baking.

I don't know what was better -- seeing my little "old pro" put everything in and work the mixer by herself, or seeing how excited Maddie was to witness the whole process up close.

We always "test" a couple of chocolate chips to make sure they are okay before we put them in.

Katie was a regular Julia Childs, talking Mo through the entire process.

"Now we stir the chocolate chips in Maddie -- like this."

"You want to help? Put your hand here."

She was too cute.

Such sweet pictures and the teaching moments makes my heart melt. I bet you were so proud of Katie. The shot of Maddie's feet - adorable!

How adorable are your girls? i just love them, Becky, and you are doing such an amazing job raising them. Is it too early to promise me that Katie and Ryder can get married in 30 years or so?

How fun! They both look so adorable in their little aprons. You're very lucky to have such adorable help in the kitchen!

What a great memory for the girls and you. It looks like you may have a little chef, or two, on your hands! I was completely unaware that there was a National Oatmeal Cookie Day!
