10/90

Is about the percentage ratio spent on the inside versus outside of the La Brea Tar Pits last week.
We saw a short movie (really a slide show) about the tar pits which included how the animals got caught in the tar. The scene was much like the one above with a saber tooth growling and shown atop a horse.

Katie straight freaked out and was cowering behind me. Maddie sat by me and roared along with the saber tooth.

As I said, outside was the big attraction of the day.

The kids rolled down the big hills.

And, ran down them.
And, ran down them some more.

Maddie even climbed to the top.

But, she just sat up there and later had to be carried down.

I've known Carrie since I was five. I love that our kids seem to genuinely like each other (like they'd have a choice we always joke).

Jake and Katie play great together and Lauren seems to think that Maddie is "hers" which cracks us up.

Katie talks about her "boy best friend" Jake all the time.

I don't know how else to say it but it makes my heart smile to see them together.

What a great friendship and even better that all your kids get along so well. I can't wait for rolling down the hill days.

So cute! Do they still have the tar pits open where you can walk around them?? I remember Mama took Tessa and I there once, and Tessa got her foot stuck in some squishy tar/dirt combo and we had to leave her shoe behind! It looks like fun. I'll have to bring Rowan there the next time I come back to the states!

Yes, and there is still tar coming up through the grass in random places around the grounds. They have cones out -- but since when did single orange cone say "stay away" to a young child?
