r.i.p.

My little Canon PowerShot SD550has been doing this a lot lately.

I'm afraid it's on its last legs.

I think I may ask Santa for fancier SLR camera, but in the meantime I feel naked without a point-and-shoot in my back pocket so I'll have to hop-to and write a few extra articles so I can go make this purchase now.

What camera do you have (SLR or point-and-shoot)? Do you like it?

Bummer. I have a SLR (Nikon d40 but think the d60 or 90 are the newer versions) and a p&s. Most of my pics are with the d40 and I love it. I'm still on auto though.

Yes, definitely SLR (Nikon D60...I think) as long as you don't mind the size of the camera. They're just coming out with smaller SLRs that have video capability as well if you're willing to spend the extra $$.

Both... I would be lost without having both. I would not want to lug the SLR (Nikon D40) all over the place for everything when sometimes it is much more convenient to just throw the little point and shoot (Canon powershot elph) in my bag or pocket. But there is nothing like the SLR for getting glorious true to life images. I have a fixed lens that I use f/1.8 for indoors without a flash to get such amazing pictures.
